Practice Groups
Sebastopol Sea Serpents divides into five training groups designed by the coaching staff to offer stroke technique, cardiovascular and muscular conditioning, and progression.  Swimmers are provided with the opportunity to establish incremental goals of achievement.

Junior Serpents Swimmers are introduced to the four competitive strokes (butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke, freestyle), basic water safety, team building games and relays.  This group is perfect for a child who has had some lessons and loves to swim.

Group 1 Swimmers build on skills mastered in Junior Serpents and swim lessons.  Group 1 emphasizes stroke technique and developing muscular and aerobic endurance.  Once a month, weekend meets are introduced to swimmers who want to be a part of competitive swimming.

Group 2 While continuing to perfect stroke technique, starts and turns, swimmers learn to train by monitoring heart-rates, stroke-rates, pace clocks and intervals.
Group 3 Training sessions focus on endurance while maintaining stroke technique.  Group 3 swimmers vary from the age-group swimmer to the athlete preparing for high school competition.
Pre-Seniors Training sessions focus on a variety of aspects.  Pre-Seniors vary from the age-group swimmer to the athlete preparing for high school competition.

Seniors Seniors range form the high school swimmer wanting to increase skills and conditioning levels to the athlete working towards college swimming.  Swimmers learn time management skills with mandatory morning practices.
